NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR -- The congressional campaign of former North Little Rock Mayor Patrick Henry Hays announced today that it raised over $350,000 in the first quarter of 2014 and out-raised banker French Hill's campaign by $50,000, according to a Hill campaign press release.
This report continues Hays' streak of breaking Democratic fundraising records in Arkansas' Second Congressional District, raising more money at this point in the cycle than any other Democratic campaign in the Second District's history.
"What's going on in Washington is a disgrace," said campaign manager David Furr. "As Mayor, Patrick Henry Hays balanced twenty-four budgets, cut wasteful spending, and created jobs. This campaign has tremendous support from Democrats, Republicans, and Independents because Mayor Hays got things done and has a record of commonsense leadership."
85% of contributions to the campaign from January through March were from Arkansas. Hays' campaign will report $470,000 cash-on-hand. The announcement of these strong fundraising numbers comes just five days after former President Bill Clinton appeared at a fundraiser for Mayor Hays in North Little Rock.
