NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR -- Today, the nonpartisan Cook Political Report became the latest forecaster to move their ranking of Arkansas' Second Congressional District in Mayor Patrick Henry Hays' direction, joining the Rothenberg Political Report in changing their rating from "Leans Republican" to "Toss Up."
From the ratings change:
"In a...bright spot for Democrats, by most accounts, North Little Rock Mayor Pat Hays is now running even or a bit ahead of GOP banker French Hill. A surprising new Hendrix College poll shows Hays ahead 46 percent to 42 percent."
Hays for Congress Campaign Manager David Furr issued the following statement on the ratings change:
"The momentum has clearly shifted behind Mayor Patrick Henry Hays' campaign to bring the Arkansas, problem-solving values he practiced in City Hall back to Congress. Whether it's the public polls showing Mayor Hays ahead of French Hill, Mayor Hays' two debate victories, or this latest string of ratings changes from nonpartisan observers, it is clear that Mayor Hays' record of balancing 24 budgets, cutting the city's debt in half and attracting good jobs is resonating with Arkansans across the district. And every day, hardworking Arkansans are learning more about French Hill's record of putting himself first -- like when he sold his bank to make millions for himself but forced his employees to take pay cuts and find new jobs."
